Introduction & SummaryExtending back to 1958, these tables summary quarterly state data on the Wages and Salaries. The data are seasonally adjusted at annual rates (SAAR)*. Sector level industry NAICS Wage and Salaries data (North American Industry Classification System) are reported for 1998:1-2024:2 (see: https://www.census.gov/eos/www/naics/). Division level industry SIC earnings data (Standard Industry Classification) are reported for 1958:1-2001:4 (see: https://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sic_manual.html). *Seasonal adjustment removes from the time series of the source data the average effect of variations that normally occur at about the same time and in about the same magnitude each year—for example, weather and holidays. After seasonal adjustment, cyclical and other short-term changes in the economy stand out more clearly. Quarterly data reported at annual rates represent values that would be registered if the seasonally adjusted rate of activity measured for a quarter were maintained for a full year. The most recent and thorough documentation detailing "...almost everything you ever wanted to know" about the Bureau of Economic Analysis state income and employment data is detailed in this report: State Personal Income and Employment: Concepts, Data Sources, and Statistical Methods - September 2014.
